The Loteria Mexicana Collection emerges from my memories as a child living
in Mexico. At the end of the day, when families are toghetter, before diner,
while grandma or nanis are working at the kitchen the rest of the family
goes around the table and play Loteria. Every body gets a board with 20 colorful
characters while someone that’s is the chanter is going to pas the
cards from a deck that contains all the figures. The chanter has to be creative
when chanting and he will never say the name of the figure coming but a reference
related with the character so , instead of the Devil he would chant “ the
one that gives and takes away”, or “… how
water rises to the coconut” instead of the Palm Tree. These collection
of images portrait all these characters that are populary known in Mexico.
Similar table games exist in Cuba, Argentina, Peru and other countries.
